THE TOOL ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR OUR SERENITY

It may seem trivial to talk about breathing because it is something we do every day, every second, without realizing it. But for this very reason have you ever thought about how this unconscious gesture is so important?

Without breath we cannot exist. Breath is really fundamental to our life, not only the physical but also the spiritual.

Think about it: breathing is the only "tool" that you always have available and that you can truly use in any situation. "Count to 10 and take a deep breath", how many times have you heard this phrase in a moment of anger? Or, in a moment of anxiety or fear, how many times have you heard: "take a deep breath"?

These are certainly not clichés.

But how can you use this powerful tool during practice?

Let's start with breathing meditation , which you can practice at any time, especially if you are approaching meditation for the first time and/or you are in a moment of anger, anxiety or fear. Or if you simply need a moment of peace.

  • Find a sitting position that is comfortable for you, with your back straight but not stiff and your shoulders away from your ears. You can sit on a cushion, lean your back against a wall, or sit in a chair;

  • Close your eyes, relax your facial muscles and start breathing through your nose;

  • Observe your breathing: note the temperature of the air as you inhale and exhale, notice the scents and odors that surround you, follow the path of the air inside your body...

  • Focus on your breathing and if you get distracted DO NOT JUDGE YOURSELF, it's normal, just bring your attention back to your breathing.

This meditation can be practiced anywhere, even just for 3/4 minutes, the benefits will amaze you.

During the physical practice of Yoga, breathing is the basis of our movement. Normally, Ujjayi breathing is used (soon you will find an explanatory video of this breathing, but if you want more information you can write to me and/or comment on the post) throughout the practice. It is not easy for those who begin to practice, we must never feel tired and out of breath. For this reason, you must listen to your body and your needs and stop when you feel out of breath. If necessary, you can also take a breath with your mouth!

Breathing during physical practice must begin one second before the beginning of the movement and the movement must follow the breathing. This is also why the practice is truly subjective: each of us has completely different inhalation and exhalation times!

Breathing is truly the most powerful tool you can use anywhere, anytime, and it's free! To learn more, contact me and/or comment on the post: we can start your journey towards conscious breathing together :)
